Battlestations:Midway sequel is coming. No really

Will World War 2 games every go away? Game Publishers like Eidos just keep milking the WW2 cash cow. Eidos has stated that a sequel for Battlestations:Midway(which received average reviews) will be coming in 2008. Should we celebrate now?

  1. I think that the World War 2 games will never go avay. Its the same as with mediveal war games. People love exploring the “time” :)

  2. I think WW2 is here to stay. It’s one of the last wars that the sides were pretty clear: Axis=Bad Guys—Allies=Good Guys. No one could argue FOR genocide. Not saying that we’re not the good guys now, just that there are a lot more (wrong) opinions out there and that, unfortunatly, those idiots influence markets with their coin. This is why you don’t see the Arab-Israeli wars as a topic. Someone would have a “That’s not PC!!!” indignation fit.

  3. That battlestations midway got ‘average’ reviews is nonsense. If you read the initial reviews, which are mostly on the basis of the freebies given to the same idiot fanboys who review everything under the sun, that may be true, but as time has gone on and more thoughtful, intelligent reviews have come out, they have been glowing - generally around 8 to 8.5/10. it’s a great game with few flaws.

This has to best my favorite article of 2007. I cant wait to read your next!

  5. Who ever said the sequel would be in WW2. It could be Battlestations: Vietnam for all you know.

  6. [...] Rumors of a Battlestations sequel spread earlier this year following an announcement by Eidos’ parent company SCi that a sequel was in the works. 7. Funny, this evening I finished Midway game at Veteran level. I sat on my patio thinking of a sequel name. I figured, Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Iwo Jima, Conquest of Japan, etc. Then I googled and found they already named it as “Pacific.” I supposed I’ll ponder the European theater: Battle of Britain, Normandy Invasion, Battle of the Bulge, etc…. Gee, I have no life.

  8. Homer is 100% accurate … the average reviews comment is off base. Take it from someone who is addicted to the game and has been playing online since its release … it is one of the best multiplayer games out there!! You can go 4 on 4 on the same map night after night and end up with completely different strategies emerging and outcomes. I can’t wait for the sequel and thousands online can’t either. Map editor please!!
