Multiplayer a no-no in Bioshock

Crappy news coming out of 2k games. In a Q +A posted on the 2kgames.com site one of the 2k games reps has posted that Bioshock will not have multiplayer gameplay.

Will there be multiplayer or online gaming in BioShock?
“There will be no multiplayer (hold on before you complain!!!!) but for a very specific reason. BioShock features a compelling storyline that revolves around the experiences of one man as he enters the decaying world of Rapture. Having a multiplayer component would have compromised the story we were trying to tell so we made the decision to keep this game as a single player experience. There will be an online component, however, where new content can be downloaded.”

If you’re a single player type gamer than this means nothing to you but for all of us who love to game on Xbox Live this is BAD news.

Does this hamper your decision in checking Bioshock out?

    that sucks but i totally understand and i love it at the same time because i’m a big single player guy.

    I probably wouldn’t have played the multiplayer portion anyway. I’ll take Singleplayer over multiplayer any day. Mass Effect will also be Singleplayer

    I bet the game will still be good but I love me some multiplayer action.

    You shouldn’t complain about MP until you at least get to play a demo of the game. If the single-player sucks, and they get lots of user feedback, then there might just be multiplayer. (But honestly, what in the world would a game like bioshock be like if it were to be MP, a halo deathmath? hmmmmm… ;)
